Learning objectives

  1. Effective Communication Skills: By the end of this module, participants will have honed their communication abilities to effectively convey ideas, concepts, and project goals within the context of culture, media, and creative industries. They will demonstrate the capacity to adapt their communication style to different stakeholders and employ various mediums such as written, verbal, and visual communication to achieve successful outcomes.

Identifying Opportunities and Fostering Innovation

This module is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify opportunities and foster innovation within the media and creative industries. Participants will explore the social, cultural, and economic aspects of these industries to uncover potential areas for value creation. They will learn how to develop a forward-thinking vision, assess ideas and opportunities, and nurture creativity within the context of media and creative endeavors. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants will gain the tools and strategies needed to promote innovation and capitalize on emerging trends.

This module explores the competences related to EntreComp area Ideas and Opportunities, competence Spotting opportunities. Competence areas and competences are interrelated and should be treated as a whole. The progression in entrepreneurial learning is made up of two aspects:

  • Developing increasing independence and responsibility in acting upon ideas and opportunities to create value;

  • Developing the capacity to generate value from simple and predictable contexts up to complex, constantly changing environments.

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities within the media and creative industries by exploring their social, cultural, and economic aspects.

  • Develop a forward-thinking vision that aligns with the evolving landscape of the media and creative industries.

  • Assess the potential impact and feasibility of ideas and innovations within the specific context of media and creative industries.

  • Foster a culture of open-mindedness and inclusivity to encourage diverse perspectives and ideas within the media and creative industries.

  • Generate creative and purposeful ideas and apply design thinking methodologies to challenge conventional thinking.

  • Utilize digital technologies and emerging platforms exclusive to the media and creative industries to uncover fresh avenues for value creation.

The underlying assumption when defining the learning outcomes is that the level of the learners is Intermediate Level 4 and Advanced Levels 5 and 6. Intermediate level means: Learners can recognise opportunities to address needs that have not been met. Advanced level: Learners can seize and shape opportunities to respond to challenges and create value for others.

Thus, the formulated learning outcomes follow EntreComp for this area as follow: 

  • The learner can proactively look for opportunities to create value, including out of necessity.

  • The learner can describe different analytical approaches to identify entrepreneurial opportunities.

  • The learner can use his/her knowledge and understanding of the context to make opportunities to create value.

  • S/he can take apart established practices and challenge mainstream thought to create opportunities and look at challenges in different ways.

  • S/he can identify challenges related to the contrasting needs and interests of different stakeholders.

  • S/he can carry out a needs analysis involving relevant stakeholders.

  • S/he can analyse an existing value creation activity by looking at it as a whole and identifying opportunities to develop it further.
